Arlington Row in Bibury. Evidently the most photographed lane in England. We had the great good fortune to be there early on a sunny day in the off season and between tour buses. The black swan must have decided to make up for my lack of a steam train in the next to the last image.

This was shot a couple seconds before totality. What a show the North America Eclipse provided in the north of the US today. Our niece and her husband lived right in the line of totality and I shot this from their back yard.

The son of the owner was on shore when we were there. His father had recently passed and they wanted to bring the boat out of harbor and down the way with the plan of dismantling it. Sadly the waves caught in and washed it ashore just as they got out of the channel and into the sea. They were salvaging what they could before the crane removed the rest of the wreck.

This is Lake Michigan yesterday. It used to freeze clear across nearly every year. Three years ago it froze across for the first time in many years. Now this year in February it has only the smallest bit of ice on it, but what an amazing blue sky it was. Today it was 53 degrees, strange weather indeed.

Chester is everything one imagines when they think about Old England...the shops tucked away in the Rows or even on the ground floors are really delightful. The Victorian craftsmanship in these half-timber buildings is stunning.
Shot late on a winter day, this was a difficult capture. It is hard to get far enough back, and the wide angle creates a strong distortion. So it took some serious work and compromise getting it upright, but other than a bit of distraction removal this is straight photography.

Within these walls at Raby dwelt knights clad in armor, gleaming under the flickering torchlight. Amidst this splendor, beyond the polished armor, lay a solemn duty woven into the fabric of their existence. Constructed in the late 19th century, the Lower Harbor Ore Dock was part of a network of docks that facilitated the transportation of iron ore from the mines of Michigan's Upper Peninsula to steel mills across the Great Lakes region. At its peak, Marquette was one of the largest shipping ports for iron ore in the United States, and the ore dock played a crucial role in this trade. ~Travel Marquette

Ok confession time, I have been trying to capture a quality image of these beautiful butterflies from the top of the wings. I am certain they have it in for me as they will not land and stay still with their wings open for more than a nano-second. So I once again came way without the prized image, but I am actually starting to appreciate the beauty of the underside!

The water mill lies hidden in Coombe Gill in the Borrowdale Valley near Derwentwater in the Lake District.

The walk toward Borrowdale Mill opens into this wide, low-lying pasture, often damp underfoot after rain. The ubiquitous stone walls mark old field lines, and sheep scatter across the grass as they always have. That cottage tucked under the trees has weathered over the years to become part of the landscape now.

We spent the day in Edinburgh yesterday. The sky changed every 5 minutes. It would rain and then the sky would open and send down glorious beams of light for us at what seemed the perfect time.
I did not enhance the blue, it was really like this as the sun began to sink in the west.
